Kanjirappally Eparchy was formed under the Archdiocese of Changanacherry on 1997 May 12th. Then the ten convents of eastern parts of Devamatha Province Changanacheery were separated and formed Kanjirappally St.Thomas Vice Province. It was inaugurated on 1978 January 1st by Archbishop Mar Joseph Powathil andRev.Sr.Germain was the first Vice Provincial. In 1980 the Vice Province was uplifted as a province and Rev. Sr.sales was elected as the first Provincial Superior. At the beginning of the Province itself we have started mission stations at Shimoga in Karnataka and Polavaram in Andrapradesh.According to the decision of the General Synaxis we entrusted the Shimoga Mission to Mananthavady Province in 2000 March. In 2002 April 8th San Thom Eluru Region was inaugurated and in 2013 it was elevated to San Thom Province.
